Our story

Quaderno launched in 2014 by our founder Carlos, who bootstrapped for 10 years. We built with focus and discipline, growing carefully and keeping operations lean while improving our product and supporting customers around the world.

In 2023, we joined the Visma family, one of Europe’s leading providers of mission-critical business software. This partnership strengthened our infrastructure, security, and product capabilities while allowing us to continue operating with independence and long term vision, and of course, offering the best to our clients.

Today, we combine startup agility with enterprise stability to deliver reliable tax automation for growing businesses. Our team (and many of our customers) have been with us since 2014, a reflection of the long-term relationships we’ve built along the way.

Origin of our name

In 1494, Luca Pacioli laid the foundations of modern accounting in a book in which, among many other interesting topics, he explained the accounting techniques of his time. He also described the quaderno, the main ledger that contained a merchant’s complete accounting records.

That historical ledger inspired our name.

Six centuries later, we carry that tradition forward by improving tax management with a simple and powerful automation platform. We believe you should spend more time doing meaningful work and less time worrying about taxes.

Remote first and async

The Quaderno tax team works remotely from Spain, Italy, the UK, and the US. We believe you must live in the place that makes you happiest.

We work 5 hour days and we’re profitable. No toxic meetings, no endless phone calls, no nonsense. Just focused work. The rest of the day is dedicated to family, friends, pets, and hobbies, and personal growth (you know, the important stuff).
